Brief

emotion media had previously worked with Fingal County Council to commission digital signage players and to design custom content templates for their libraries, and also configure two video walls in their Blanchardstown office. So when it came to commissioning a new digital signage CMS we hit the ground running.

The new CMS would not only replace an older device, it would allow us to consolidate channels and playlists for better consistency and messaging across all of Fingal’s libraries and civic buildings.

Approach

Rather than replicating the outdated CMS—cluttered with obsolete content and dated layouts—we built this new system from scratch. This allowed for cleaner design, streamlined user interaction, and future scalability. Maintaining access to both CMS platforms ensured seamless migration with minimal disruption, while our primary goal remained: make content management intuitive and efficient for Fingal staff.

To achieve this, we designed on-brand layouts for the various screens and orientations, added drag-and-drop playlists instead of storage folders for active media, reducing the steps required for content upload and distribution.

Result

We delivered this project in two parts, the first was to build new layouts for Swords County Hall and Blanchardstown Civic Office, to maximise functionality we introduced three new multizone designs: landscape, portrait, and document display for Council Notices. All of which are connected to shared playlists for centralised content control and flexible screen targeting.

The second stage was the creation of dedicated channels for each library, enabling more media configuration options for local users while retaining a level of global control for head office users.

Once all content was relocated, we migrated players to the new CMS, providing each staff member with personalised credentials and support. In parallel, we worked closely with Fingal’s IT team to ensure full connectivity and software readiness ahead of migration. And Partnering with Image Supply Systems, we configured a batch of new Onelan NTBs which were quickly and easily integrated into the new system.
